Phytosanitary Diagnostics
Professional producers are requested to contact in the first instance the service that is responsible in their canton.
Private individuals are requested to consult a landscape gardener before referring to official bodies.
The identification of plants diseases and pests, including self propagating plants, is an important service of Agroscope. It is however restricted to official bodies (cantonal and federal services) and for organisations appointed by them. For such diagnostics, specialists use expensive methodologies (morphological, serological, molecular and electronic microscopy).

Shipments
Only samples from authorised bodies sent with appropriately completed documentation will be accepted. All others will be destroyed.
The samples must be packed in a plastic bag. The completed documentation must be attached to the outside of the bag which must be securely packaged.
The package must be sent to the Agroscope address according to the table above. If necessary, the specialists will forward the sample to another laboratory and send the reply to the person/body requesting the diagnosis.
According to the type of inspection carried out, some specific forms or labels may already exist (for ex. fire blight, potato certification, arboricultural and viticultural certification or phytosanitary passport). These specific documents are to be used within the framework of these inspections.
