Methods for the Environmental Assessment of Foods

oekobilanztagung

Indices for nutrition aggregate the various aspects of nutrition to one or just a few values. They relate the nutritional content or proportions of different food groups to the recommendations. Examples of such indices are the Nutrient-Rich Food Score (NRF), the Nutrient Balance Score, NutriScore, or Rao’s Nutrient Diversity Score.

In addition, the effects on human health can be estimated via risk factors based on the Global Burden of Disease, as is the case e.g. for the Health and Nutritional Index (HENI). The extent to which the lifecycle assessment results change when the nutritional aspects are systematically taken into account is examined.
