DIGItal Tools to help AgroForestry meet climate, biodiversity and farming sustainability goals: linking field and cloud

logo_Digitaf

There is no standard model or "one size fits all" for agroforestry systems - their design and management depends on the individual field and farm. Digital decision support tools, models, or apps can help with planning and management, but are often not easy to use or understand.

This EU project aims to develop digital instruments (tools, models, apps) in collaboration with practitioners, stakeholders, and market representatives, in order to obtain suggestions for their possible improvement and simplification.

The project will be useful to:

  1. Policy actors: seeking to develop more efficient policies to promote the uptake of AF;
  2. Practitioners (farmers...): seeking to deal with the complexity of agroforestry systems in practice. Tools for the planning and design of agroforestry systems as well as assistance in understanding how to manage and administer agroforestry systems at field and farm level will be provided.
  3. Retailers: to facilitate or advance the assessment and marketing of the economic, environmental, and social benefits of agroforestry systems.

Running from July 2022 to June 2026, the project is part of the EU Horizon Europe programme with 26 partners from 21 countries.
