TASTE (Transformative Urban Food Projects): Designing Sustainable Food Pro-grammes in our Cities

Stadtgarten

Swiss towns and cities host a variety of innovative food projects – from community gardens to bulk stores to food-sharing hubs. The ‘TASTE’ Project (TrAnsformative StädTische Ernährungsprojekte; Transformative Urban Food Projects) aims to high-light particularly successful food initiatives.

‘TASTE’ aims to identify, analyse and publicise successful urban food production,
processing and distribution projects. This will create a pool of practical knowledge to support municipal governments, civil-society stakeholders and locally anchored businesses in design-ing sustainable food systems.

To accomplish this, TASTE takes a three-stage approach:

  • Mapping and evaluation of sustainable food initiatives in selected towns and cities.
  • In-depth analysis of particularly effective projects, including interviews and field re-search
  • Filmed portraits for communication with the general public.

The project helps expedite the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the food sector in a local, vivid and outcome-oriented manner.

‘TASTE’ is financed by the SDSN (the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Switzer-land) and partnered by the University of Basel.
