The Feed Biology research group is organised in three active laboratories mainly busy with the analyses of feedstuffs. The "GMO" laboratory uses the tools of molecular biology for the detection of genetically modified organisms and the identification of probiotics. The "Microbiology" laboratory is devoted to the assessment of the microbiological quality of feeds and ingredients, to the probiotic counts, to the detection of mycotoxins with ELISA methods and to the detection of antibiotics, whereas the "Microscopy" laboratory concentrates on the composition of mixed feeds and the detection of animal meals. The analyses are carried out within the frame of Official Control and for different research projects.
All the laboratories of the Feed Biology group are accredited according to the standard ISO 17025.
