In various projects, we evaluate the development over time as well as the spatial and crop-specific distribution of PPP use and the associated environmental risks. This is done with the aim of monitoring the achievement of (agricultural policy) reduction targets, highlighting developments with the aid of PPP indicators and models (e.g. SYNOPS), and preparing facts for agricultural policy discussions. Together with other Research Groups, we also develop assessment systems to evaluate plant protection strategies in terms of their environmental risks, environmental impacts and cost-effectiveness. We also calculate indicators based on the application data of commercial farms for the Swiss Confederation’s agri-environmental monitoring and for various projects in the frame of the ‘Sustainable Resource Use Programme’ promoted by the FOAG.
