Traditional Food Network to improve the transfer of knowledge for Innovation (TRAFOON)

Aims of the Project
The TRAFOON network brought together researchers, knowledge transfer agents and SME associations from 14 European countries in order to promote sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship in the traditional food sector for the benefit of European regions and consumers.

Project dates: 1 November 2013 to 31 October 2016

The sectors on which Agroscope Conthey focused were strawberries and apricots. 

TRAFOON Project Output
A book including recipes and descriptions of traditional foods of Spain, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Serbia and Greece was published in the various languages of the European partner countries.

  • Provides information on innovations in the production and marketing of traditional foods using regional raw materials.
  • Promotes entrepreneurship among producers of traditional foods and researchers
  • Develops strategic research and innovation agendas to enable traditional food sectors to be competitive on future markets.
