Species Diversity (γ-Diversity)

Overall species diversity of a landscape is described as γ-diversity. It is influenced by various factors, e.g. the extent of local species diversity in the habitats and the diversity of habitat types in the survey square, but also by the previous long- and short-term trends in land use, or the extent of species diversity in the larger-scale region.

Species diversity is calculated separately for the plant, butterfly and breeding bird species as the number of species in the entire survey square.
