Average Species Diversity (α-Diversity)

The measure of average species diversity within a habitat is referred to as α-diversity.

In order to calculate average species diversity (α-diversity), the number of plant species per sampling area per survey square is determined and the result is averaged over all habitats per survey square.

State of average species diversity (α-diversity)

‘Average species diversity (α-diversity)’ indicator: Average number of plant species per survey square; average ± standard error. LZ: Lowland zone; UZ: Upland zone; LM: Lower mountain zone (mountain zones I and II); UM: Upper mountain zone (mountain zones III and IV), SA: Summer-grazing area.
