The 48th Agricultural Economics Conference will take place on 18 November at the Agroscope site in Tänikon, Ettenhausen, Switzerland. The conference will focus on the profitability of selected production methods and the impact of agricultural policy. Registrations are possible until 13 November.
The participants will be given an economic overview of the past and current year, based on the results of the Swiss Farm Accountancy Network of Agroscope and the Agricultural Accounts of the Federal Statistical Office.
Profitability in focus
Calculations and models on the profitability of selected production methods will also be presented, including the economically optimal lifespan of dairy cows, the effects of phase feeding on pigs and the question of the extent to which investments in milking systems affect profitability.
New method for calculating emissions
Agroscope has also developed a method for IP-SUISSE and Bio Suisse to calculate the greenhouse gas emissions of their farms and products and to present them transparently to their customers. The new method will be presented at the conference.
