Guided Tours of the Potato Collection in Arosa

Blüten

Agrosope’s Alpine Garden in Maran above Arosa is home to a potato collection which includes over one hundred heritage varieties. Guided tours are available at BOTANICA'25, which runs from 14.6.–13.7.2025.

The main aim of the potato trials at the Maran Experimental Station is to preserve old potato varieties for future generations and as a resource for agricultural research. The project in Arosa has proved successful – and the sight of over one hundred varieties flowering in wide array of colours in summer is a wonder to behold!

Guided tours at BOTANICA'25

Under the banner ‘Potato varieties from the Graubünden Mountains for our farming sector’, Agroscope specialists are bringing heritage potato varieties to a wider audience. These varieties are grown and tended by people at Agroscope’s Zürich-Reckenholz site. The leaves and flowers of each cultivar differ from the next, with heirloom and coloured varieties grown alongside familiar fast-food potatoes.
