The guidelines provide information on the steps involved in planning and analysing data from studies on cheese. Methods to reduce experimental and sampling variation and thus obtain more precise results are an integral part of the guidelines. All concepts covered in the guidelines are illustrated using a ring trial performed within the framework of the COST 95 action
