The MediBreed project aims to strengthen the competitiveness, sustainability, and innovation of the Swiss medicinal and aromatic plant (MAP) sector by developing high-performing, locally adapted varieties. It integrates variety testing, breeding, domestication of alpine species, phytochemical profiling, and agronomic evaluation. Key goals include the development of robust, and high-yielding cultivars. The project supports biodiversity conservation, seed sovereignty, and knowledge transfer through field trials and stakeholder engagement, ensuring long-term impact on sustainable MAP production in Switzerland.
