In Switzerland, on average 10 bee poisoning incidents occur every year. There are different causes for these poisonings. A direct relation to pesticide application can not be established in all cases. Often there are other factors, e.g. bee pathology factors (Varroa) or erroneous beekeeping management (bee feeding shortage). In order to prevent such incidents or to claim compensation it is important to find out the reasons for the poisonings.
What to Do in the Event of a Bee Poisoning
The Bee Health Service is responsible for the investigation of bee poisonings. The home page of the BHS explains how to provide bee and plant samples as evidence.
