Milk and beef are two of the most important production branches of Swiss agriculture. This research group helps ensure that ruminants are fed in accordance with their requirements and that Swiss natural resources such as grass are utilised efficiently. It also promotes the production of premium-quality milk and beef, which in turn helps maintain livestock health and system productivity. Targeted feeding lowers costs for the farmer and reduces nutrient excretion and environmental pollution. It also enables the optimal use of nutrients.
