Unusual Arable Crops to Make a Comeback

Ackerkulturen

Agroscope aims to do its part to increase the diversity of crop rotations. As part of the Horizon 2020 project CROPDIVA, six arable crops are to be grown more widely once again.

Oats, hull-less barley, triticale, buckwheat, fava beans and lupin have one thing in common: they are seldom cultivated in Switzerland, and currently play a subordinate role in the human diet. This is set to change, with 27 international research institutes, Agroscope among them, planning to promote these rarely-grown arable crops as part of the Horizon 2020 Project CROPDIVA.
