At Agroscope we are developing the different components of SALCA (Swiss Agricultural Life Cycle Assessment) for all the steps of a life cycle inventory (LCI). The figure shows the different phases according to ISO Standard 14040 and the components being developed in SALCA for each phase.
SALCA’s key components consist of models for direct field and animal emissions, the impact assessment in the ‘Biodiversity’ and ‘Soil’ spheres, and Agroscope’s internal Life Cycle Inventory database. More detailed information on the individual topics can be found under SALCA’s own emission and impact assessment methods as well as under life cycle assessment data and software.
