The ‘Feed Inspection’ research group is responsible for the official inspection of animal feed on behalf of the Swiss Federal Office for Agriculture FOAG. As the first check along the food chain, the official feed inspection ensures that manufacturers and feed retailers work in accordance with legal requirements. The research group grants registration or approval to companies producing or marketing animal feed. It carries out regular inspections and has the feed analysed, thereby guaranteeing that the feed is healthy and compliant, and provides protection against fraud. The group is also responsible for authorising new products intended for animal feed. Its activities therefore serve to protect human and animal health, as well as the environment.
