Meadows and pastures form the foundation for sustainable milk and meat production. The exclusively grass-based diet of grazing livestock, and grazing in particular, have both economic and environmental advantages. Grazing techniques require developments geared to both livestock species and farm type. Particular attention is paid to the increasingly frequent dry spells. The aim of the project is to develop grazing systems and forms of management that enable high-quality feed to be grown in a streamlined, cost-efficient manner, thereby further optimising livestock husbandry. The focus is also on landscape conservation, especially the preservation of biodiversity and landscape diversity.
