The areas in the South of the Alps have different pedologic, climatic and ecologic caracteristics than those of other Swiss areas. Consequently, several phytosanitary problems are specific to that area or are amplified in their frequency or their severity. Moreover, the geographical position opened towards South fosters the arrival of new harmful organisms. The territory monitoring and the quick reaction to the introduction of new harmful organisms, as well as specific research for the main phytosanitary problems of these areas are a priority.
