Assessment of Sites and Odour Impacts from Livestock Husbandry

In Switzerland with its typically heterogeneous topography, a more targeted choice of sites for farms with animal husbandry is becoming more important. With an eye to odour dispersion, Agroscope develops and assesses methods and indicators for planning processes for the clarification of local flow paths. Factors influencing impact-side odour perception and its assessment are highlighted with a view to the farm and site-related context.
This allows us to improve recommendations for the planning of animal-housing facilities, for the choice of site, and for the avoidance of odour complaints, thereby assisting stakeholders in the enforcement of air-pollution control.
