Increasing the Safety of Milk and Dairy Products
With research findings, challenge tests, surveys and risk-based recommendations, Agroscope makes a crucial contribution to the safety of milk and dairy products, and ensures their value-added and exportability. As the national reference laboratory for milk and dairy products, it also contributes to the implementation of food and agriculture legislation in Switzerland, and in bilateral agreements with the EU.
Food-borne illnesses in humans occur worldwide, and new findings indicate that they are on the rise, owing to changes in the characteristics of pathogens, climate change and globalisation. In this project, our researchers record and investigate the introduction and spread of antibiotic resistance, persistence, chemical impurities, residues and adulterations.
