Understanding the Role of Microorganisms in Agricultural Systems. Or: What their Genes Can Tell Us on this Subject

18-08-13-10-01

In this project, our researchers develop and apply new techniques for identifying and describing microorganisms and their populations. These techniques are crucial for investigating the numerous functions of microorganisms in agricultural systems, and for understanding how agricultural practices and measures affect the microorganisms.

The findings of the research project can help us protect natural resources and use them sparingly. They also provide valuable information on the interaction between microorganisms and host organisms,  enabling us to make targeted use of the positive characteristics of microorganisms in agricultural systems,  or to take action to reduce their negative characteristics.
