The modern dairy cow must meet continually increasing challenges: in addition to intensification and the desire for greater efficiency and lower environmental impact, she will be up against growing external pressure, particularly as a consequence of climate change. A better understanding of the stress factors and new, refined options for early diagnosis of their consequences should strengthen her own resilience to environmental and nutritional stress as well as support the development of management and feeding strategies to meet these challenges.
