Agricultural crop nutrition is a key process of agricultural production. Plant-nutrition research must furnish the scientific principles that enable us to ensure an optimal supply of nutrients to crops in order to achieve harvests that are satisfactory in terms of quantity and quality whilst limiting negative impacts on the environment. The aim of the projects conducted within this field of activity is to suggest concepts, methods, diagnostic systems and management practices suitable for ensuring an adequate supply of nutrients to agricultural crops, whilst preserving natural resources and the quality of the environment. To achieve this aim, plant-nutrition research consists of an applied component and an application-oriented basic-research component.
