We develop methods for the biological and integrated control of harmful insects and mites in field crops and special crops. We monitor pests which are new to Switzerland and develop mathematical models for use in computer-aided forecasting and warning services (www.agrometeo.ch). We also monitor the geographical spread and abundance of disease vectors and create risk analyses. We track the development of resistance to insecticides and acaricides and devise strategies for the management of resistance. We regularly update vital Integrated Plant-Protection tools such as e.g. damage thresholds. We make our know-how available in the diagnosis of harmful organisms in relation to the cross-border movement of goods.
