The aim of the SALCA project is to make available, update and use life-cycle assessment methods and data as well as LCA and sustainability-assessment calculation tools as a basis for farm- and product-related environmental and sustainability management in the agriculture and food sector.
The method is currently being refined in terms ecotoxicity (pesticides and heavy metals), biodiversity, soil quality, emission models, impact assessment methods, and ecosystem services. The calculation tools are being redesigned and updated in the SALCAfuture IT project. Methods, data and calculation tools are used to provide answers to current environmental issues such as the assessment of crop-protection strategies.
