Discover Agroscope Research at the BEA!

bea_2025

This year, Agroscope’s focus is on potato variety testing. The ‘Sonderschau Kartoffeln’ (=’Spud Spectacular’) takes a playful approach to explaining the importance of the quest for robust varieties.

This year, from 25 April to 4 May 2025, Agroscope will again be present at the BEA, in Hall 3 in the Green Centre.

A time-lapse video shows how a potato plant grows and just how quickly late blight disease can wreak havoc on it. The search for disease-resistant varieties is therefore an important aspect of variety testing. Play an interactive game at our BEA stand to learn about these robust new varieties that allow us to reduce plant-protection product use and cope more successfully with today’s climatic conditions.

For your kitchen, there is a delicious instant prize highlighting our research into aromatic herbs and potatoes.
We also introduce the fetching but problematic Colorado beetle. Visitors will learn when the beetle wreaks havoc in potato crops, and what measures can be taken to limit its spread.

Agroscope’s Swiss National Stud is also represented at BEA Horse, offering a wealth of useful knowledge on horsekeeping and equine research. You’ll find our stand – jointly run with the Central Swiss Cavalry and Equestrian Association (ZKV) and guests from the equine sector – in hall 13. The Swiss National Stud will be participating daily in the Midday Breed Show with stallions as well as taking part in the Franches-Montagnes Afternoon on Saturday 3 May 2025.

We look forward to your visit.
