Competitive Food Production

The competitiveness of farms as well as the upstream and downstream industries is of decisive importance for the production and marketing of high-quality foods. Agroscope examines how value-added can be increased in agriculture – e.g. with what products, production systems and business management measures. Here, digitalisation plays a major role. We research ways in which the Swiss agriculture and food sector can continue to remain cost-efficient in future, and remain socially sustainable for farmers.

These six priorities are described in the FOAG's Research Master Plan for the Agri-food Sector (pages 37–39).
