Objective

To record the biodiversity of the agricultural landscape using state-of-the-art methods and to assess the relative importance of determinants (agricultural policy measures, general environmental influences, agricultural use)

• Specific objectives

  • Continue to develop ALL-EMA, evaluate the first remapping, start the third remapping
  • Continue to develop monitoring programmes, including resource projects, to evaluate long-term biodiversity trends as a function of the measures taken
  • Further develop measures to record biodiversity by means of remote sensing, AI, insect radar, acoustic ecology
  • Further develop biodiversity indicators (SALCA-BD, habitat indicator, AI, different spatial and thematic aggregation levels)
  • Study changes in species composition in agricultural ecosystems as a function of site conditions and management measures (fertiliser, use, irrigation)
  • Answer current questions from policy and administration on agricultural biodiversity and the possible impact of different factors
  • Improve the methodology for monitoring the impact of biodiversity-supporting measures on biodiversity

Expected outcomes

We know the state of agricultural biodiversity in Switzerland and can evaluate the key determinants. Effective and efficient measures can be taken to ensure a productive agricultural sector that is in harmony with the conservation and support of biodiversity.
