The aim of soil tillage is to maintain a favourable and stable soil structure, and to offer suitable conditions for crop installation and growth (ASIAT, 1989).

Crop rotation

The choice of crop is based on soil and climate characteristics to maintain soil fertility and also to avoid the development of harmful organisms (ASIAT, 1989).

Cover crops

Cultivation of cover crops during fallow periods offers a soil protection fulfilling several functions: reduction of erosion, nitrogen absorption limiting leaching, weed control, soil fertility improvement, etc.

Restoration of compacted subsoil (ROCSUB project)

The aim of the ROCSUB project (Restoration Of Compacted SUBsoil) is to monitor the effects of subsoil compaction on the long term and to evaluate the potential of two different restoration methods (mechanical and biological) and the time needed for recovery.
