Cost-Efficient and Species-Appropriate Animal Husbandry
Livestock husbandry is an important foundation of food security in ‘Grassland Switzerland’. Sustainable livestock husbandry committed to animal health combines breeding, feeding, husbandry and animal welfare, and is strongly linked with plant production and the environment. Agroscope improves the monitoring and enforcement of animal health-related legal requirements and investigates the economic importance of livestock husbandry. We optimise sustainable animal production systems whilst bearing in mind that human dietary habits are changing.
