Agrivoltaics: Different Impacts in Raspberry and Strawberry Crops

Agrivoltaic systems affect strawberry and raspberry crops differently. The results of four years of trials are presented in a video and in an article in Swiss Agricultural Research.

Agroscope and the Swiss clean-tech company Insolight investigated the effects of different agrivoltaics solutions and types of shading on strawberry and raspberry crops.

The study analysed the influence of the amount of light per square metre per day on yield, average weight of fruit, firmness, and sugar and acid content.

A recently published article in Swiss Agricultural Research presents the results of this study.

Video

In an accompanying video, experts from research and practice share their experience in this field, shedding light on both the challenges and opportunities arising from the use of agrivoltaic systems in fruit production.

Agrivoltaics: Dual Use of Agricultural Land

Agrivoltaics aims to combine renewable electricity generation and under-cover agricultural production on the same plot and without competition. Since 2021, Agroscope has been involved in the monitoring and agronomic evalutation of crops through a number of pilot projects, both at its experimental sites and on farms in practice.
