Agriculture in a Changing Climate
Climate change is posing significant challenges for the Swiss agriculture and food sector: hot, dry summers and other extreme weather events are becoming more frequent. With its research on new plant production and animal husbandry systems as well as the breeding of robust plants and animals, Agroscope contributes to the continued productivity of the agricultural sector under changed climate conditions. This includes efficient irrigation and protection from harmful invasive organisms. We look for ways to further reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture as well as the negative environmental impacts of food.
