Sustainable and Healthy Food

Current dietary habits are often unsustainable (food waste, high meat consumption) or partially unhealthy (highly processed foods rich in sugar and fat). Agroscope research supports the development of innovative, healthy and safe foods – e.g. dairy products, meat, bread, vegetables and fruits – from production, to processing, right up to consumption. Together with consumers, we research effective measures for sustainable nutrition and develop life-cycle assessment methods that also take account of health aspects. In so doing, we help to accompany a nutrition transition corresponding to the potential of the Swiss agriculture and food sector.

These six priorities are described in the FOAG's Research Master Plan for the Agri-food Sector (pages 37–39).
