Resilience along the Entire Agricultural and Food Chain

Innovative strategies, institutional framework conditions and practical approaches for enhancing resilience will be discussed on 7-8 May in Zollikofen at the annual conference of the Swiss Society for Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Sociology (SGA).

In recent years, the agricultural and food sector has increasingly been shaped by a series of global disruptions which have made strengthening economic and social resilience a strategic imperative. ‘Resilience’ means more than merely surviving crises: it encompasses proactive adaptation to long-term changes and challenges in ways that safeguard food security, promote environmental sustainability, uphold social equality and ensure economic viability.

Exchange between researchers, administrators and practitioners

The SGA Conference 2026 addresses the question of how to enhance resilience along the entire agricultural and food chain – from production to consumption – through innovative strategies, appropriate institutional framework conditions and practical approaches. Participants are invited to submit contributions focusing on the interactions between agricultural production and the economic, social and environmental dimensions of resilience in agrifood systems – including with reference to the entire chain from production to consumption. The Conference aims to bring together researchers, policymakers, practitioners and stakeholders for an exchange of knowledge, methodologies and practical experience.
