The "Agro4esterie" resources project works with interested parties to develop and monitor new agroforestry systems.
"Modern" agroforestry systems are sustainable agricultural production systems adapted to mechanisation and integrating perennial woody elements such as trees and shrubs. They allow agricultural production and conservation of natural resources to be harmonised while reducing the environmental and climate effects of agriculture.
The project is being carried out in the cantons of Geneva, Jura, Neuchâtel and Vaud from 2020 to 2027. Agroscope is studying the effects of the different systems (silvoarable/silvopastoral) on biodiversity (flora and fauna), weed pressure, soil and climate.
