The Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN) looks after the economic monitoring of Swiss agriculture on an individual-farm basis on behalf of the Federal Office for Agriculture. Every year, it aims to record and publish the economic development of Swiss agriculture. The figures it collects serve as a data source for all agricultural-policy makers.
The Ordinance on the Evaluation of Sustainability in Agriculture (SR 919.118) forms the legal foundation for this agricultural monitoring exercise. It is based on financial and operational data from agricultural practice, which after analysis and preparation are made available to policy advisers, research and the advisory sector.
