Chemical Aspects of Plant Protection Products

Pflanzenschutzmittel Labor

Product Chemistry, Behaviour and Fate in the Environment, Residues in Yields.

Plant-protection products (PPP’s) are biologically active products which, when of good quality and used properly, safeguard yield and quality in plant production without endangering humans and the environment. Experts from the Research Group examine applications in terms of risks posed for the environment and consumers as well as compliance of the active substances and preparations with quality standards. They document their evaluations for the attention of the authorising agency of the FOAG, and develop solutions for current plant-protection problems of practitioners with the help of experts responsible for efficacy testing. Their involvement in national and international committees (EFSA, CIPAC, FAO and WHO) ensures that their evaluations are based on the latest principles and methods. The Group’s own research in analytics and behaviour in the environment contributes to the further development of methods and to a deepening of expertise.
