The activities of Agroscope's Centre for Bee Research in the Bee Products sector serve to support beekeeping practice in various bee-product-related issues such as the production of honey, wax, pollen, royal jelly and propolis. The project ‘Bee-Product Quality, Risks of Plant-Protection Products for Bees, and National Reference Laboratory for Bee Diseases' therefore pursues the following aims:
- Maintaining, and where possible increasing, the quality of bee products so as to be able to offer high-quality products to consumers.
- Scientifically based assessment of the bee-compatibility of plant-protection products as part of the authorisation of PPP's.
- Since spring 2013, Agroscope's Centre for Bee Research has also been the Swiss Reference Laboratory for Bee Diseases.
