Using Soil Life for Sustainable Agro-Ecosystems

Der Boden mit seiner grossen Vielfalt und Masse an Lebewesen bildet eine wichtige Grundlage für die landwirtschaftliche Produktion. Das Wissen darüber wie Bodenlebewesen wichtige Bodenökosystemfunktionen wie zum Beispiel Nährstoffaufnahme, Nährstoffverluste (Auswaschung), und Kohlenstoffspeicherung beeinflussen, ist jedoch noch lückenhaft. Dieses Projekt konzentriert sich auf der Nutzung aller kulturtechnischen Möglichkeiten (inkl. Feldimpfungen), um die Bodenfunktionen so zu verbessern, dass die Ökosystemleistungen des Bodens optimiert werden (sogenanntes ökologiches Boden-Engineering). Dabei suchen wir insbesondere nach Anbaumassnahmen, welche sich günstig auf die Bodenqualität, die Bodenbiodiversität und die Populationsdynamik von besonders nützlichen Bodenlebewesen auswirken, um Produktionssysteme bezüglich Nachhaltigkeit und Ressourceneffizienz zu verbessern.
