RESO Symposium 2022

RESO

On Friday 16 September 2022 the Schweizer Obstverband (Swiss Fruit Association), Agroscope and the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL welcomed attendees to the second symposium on ‘Resilient Varieties for Sustainable Swiss Fruit Production (RESO). After two years’ research into the development of methods for determining varietal resilience, the project team presented its current trial results. The last two years have yielded valuable findings leading to the narrowing-down of the scope of the research in the next phases of the project. In addition, the planting of new experimental plots in collaboration with cantonal agencies was planned.

At the symposium, Etienne Beeler from the Swiss supermarket chain Migros highlighted the expectations of the commercial sector regarding resilient varieties. After stimulating discussions between attendees, the event was rounded off by a guided tour through FiBL orchards and a variety tasting of apples and plums.

The speakers’ presentations are available here.
