Agroscope is participating in this project, which aims to encourage the introduction of new varieties that are better adapted to different biotic and abiotic conditions and to more-sustainable crop management practices.
INVITE combines scientific and technical expertise spanning a wide range of disciplines such as plant physiology, variety testing, agronomy, genomics, breeding, biostatistics, bioinformatics, modelling and economics.
The project will encourage innovation in plant variety testing by producing and disseminating targeted information to researchers, plant breeders, variety examination offices, advisory services and farmers. Policy briefs will also be produced for decision makers.

The project was launched in July 2019 for a period of five years. Around ten countries are involved.
As part of this project, Agroscope works on various crops, including wheat, maize and sunflower.
The annual meeting of INVITE took place in Vienna from 19 to 21 April 2022.
Among other things, these meetings allow us to take stock of the results of the past trials, to compare the results of the different countries, to improve protocols and to prepare the following trial seasons.
