International survey shows different perceptions of biodiversity in science and practice
Biodiversity-friendly management is essential for minimising the negative effects of agriculture on biodiversity and associated ecosystem services. But how can scientific findings be successfully communicated to agricultural practitioners? A current survey of European scientists and farmers revealed that different perceptions of agricultural biodiversity prevail on both sides. A study conducted by the University of Vienna with the participation of Agroscope highlights potential ways of overcoming this hurdle, and a paper on this subject was recently published in the journal Biological Conservation.
