Lukas Bertschinger is the actual research director and deputy director of Agroscope Changins-Wädenswil Research Station ACW, the Swiss national competence centre for research in plant production and plant-derived food systems. He has an engineer degree in Agronomy (plant sciences) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) at Zürich and a Ph.D. of ETH in plant pathology.
From 2007 to 2009, he was representing Agroscope (Swiss applied sector research for agriculture and food) in the European SAFE-Consortium addressing food safety research in Europe. Since 2009, he represents Agroscope in the European Plant Science Organisation EPSO. Since 2010, he represents Switzerland in the Governing Council of the International Center on Insect Physiology and Ecology at Nairobi (ICIPE) and also in the Governing Council and the Executive Committee of ENDURE ERG (ENDURE European Research Group), a network of excellence and major source of information and platform for knowledge exchange regarding all aspects of Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
