Extension is a novel approach in Switzerland on how to plant, implement and control practical agricultural research work within a time frame of 12 months. Customers – agricultural practitioners organized in forums – are suggesting project topics and prioritize them according to their significance. The procedure of deciding which practical issues should be addressed every year and their exploration during the subsequent 12 months was introduced in 2004. Our customers’ feedback has been very positive so far and they would like to proceed with this system. Broad knowledge, continuous learning efforts and great flexibility are true challenges for our employees who try to use an integral approach to find feasible solutions to those issues. In short, the Extension team adopts an interdisciplinary, customer-oriented and proven approach.
