Projects Fruit Growing

„Create knowledge for practice“ is the slogan of AWC’s Extension Fruit Growing group. The team is addressing fruit growers’ issues raised in the pome and stone fruit forums. In this way fruit growers’ organisations may partake in the decision making process as to which projects should be prioritized and to what depth such issues should be explored in order to implement new insights into practice as soon as results are available. The fruit growers extension team is elaborating decision making policies for practical use, from variety and root stock testing to thinning regulations, basic business data and advisory documents for suitable and appropriate pesticide use (recommended pesticides). Our pest and disease alert system provides producers with information that is supposed to support them in their assessment of the current plant protection situation and in adopting appropriate measures.
