Research Projects - Examples

Effective Grassland
Interactions between plant species improve the performance of our meadows and pastures. But what plant species ideally complement one another in terms of producing high-quality feed in an efficient, environmentally friendly manner? Do mixed stands also represent an option for adapting to climate change? And what can be done to solve weed problems and improve the eco-quality of the meadows?
National Compentence Centre for Nematology
We are studying plant parasitic nematodes and methods to control damages caused by them. It is our task to develop and implement new schemes to prevent, diagnose and sustainably control plant parasitic nematodes through basic and applied research work.
Detection System / Food Microbiology
Our aim is to develop sensitive, specific, and quantitative detection systems for those microorganisms based on biomolecular methods.
Forage Conservation and Feed Advisory Service
Food safety begins with the quality assurance of feedstuffs. Knowledge of the nutrients and nutritional values of feedstuffs is key for understanding animal husbandry and nutrition, ecology, nutrient cycles and the influence of nutrition on the properties of animal products.
