It is an undisputed fact that vegetables play a crucial role in modern nutrition. AWC's research work is intended to provide vegetable producers with expertise on plant protection, fertilizing and cultivation methods, varieties and processing techniques so that product quality as well as production efficiency and sustainability may be enhanced.
Our extension projects are aimed at offering fast solutions to topical issues in applied vegetable growing. The research goals of those projects are being jointly determined by practitioners and AWC representatives on an annual basis.
Furthermore long-term research projects are supposed to result in strategies on pest and disease control and to optimize the use of pesticides and fertilizers.
Our vegetable growing team has well-established networks with national and international specialist departments and regularly reports on the results of its scientific work and on new developments in vegetable growing in regional, national and international conferences. Both results and ensuing recommendations for practical application are published on the internet and in technical and scientific journals.
