International Year of Biodiversity 2010

We humans are not alone, but share the Swiss habitat with 50,000 other species. As well as being our closest neighbours, they constitute one of our country’s most important resources. They clean the water, purify the air and create fertile soils.
Agricultural productivity is also directly dependent on these achievements. That’s why Agroscope is developing and promoting new cultivation methods and environmental measures that benefit biodiversity. Only in this way can Switzerland preserve its ecosystem and continue to rely on its service.
